Make a Wish

Hi Bloggers.

I really wish I liked this card but I don't. There's something about it that's not quite right. I think the blue label would have been better with a folder or mask embossed into it and I also think that the card should have been a bit smaller. I'm sharing it as it was shown quite a lot during the Pick of the Day on Tuesday and Wednesday just in case you'd like a run down on how it was made.

The background is the Venetian M-Bossabilities which has been inked around the edges with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

I cut the largest of the Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Seven dies out of Coconut White Card and inked through the die with Faded Jeans. I cut the next size down out of cobalt card. I stamped my sentiment from the Creative Expressions Dandelion Wishes Stamp Set using Cobalt Archival. I cut it out using the middle size of Labels Twenty Seven and inked through the die with Faded Jeans.

I cut some branches out of brown card using the Cherry Blossoms die set. I cut lots of flowers out of Coconut White card and inked through the dies with Faded Jeans.

I assembled the card as shown adding a large bow made from blue sheer dots ribbon and a medium square dazzler. I also edged the card with some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in White.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia.

  4. Morning Julia, I love this card, I thought how beautiful it was when Sue showed the sample and she was glad that you had used blue (instead of the usual cherry blossom colours), as she had cut hers out in black. I loved all the shows yesterday and the easel that Sue showed was brilliant, a great idea. Lots of love from Patricia xx

  5. I like this card very much Julia, I wonder if a second smaller twig added to the one on the left would have balanced it out more but that's just my opinion

  8. Morning Julia

I think maybe if the darker blue had been the larger cut die it might have balanced it more, the pale blue one is not so prominent so you only see the smaller part of the topper. The cherry blossom looks lovely and you have shown how versatile it is

  10. Morning Julia,
You are too hard on your self, the card is great. Need so many dies now just don't have the money so will have to wait for Father Christmas.
    Have a good day.

  12. Morning Julia, I agree with you, something about it doesn't work, i think there is too much background space, so that the cherry blossom gets lost in it. However i love the colours you've used. You had some wonderful cards shown on POTD.
We all make cards that dont quite work but we can't work out why! And sometimes i think the more we look at them the harder it is to see.

  13. Its funny how we all have different ideas, for me whilst I liked the card the dark blue mat detracts and I would have left it out or made the sentiment shape larger so less dark blue shows. It is nice to see the blue rather than the pink though. Jackie D

  14. Hi Julia, personally I can't see anything wrong with your card it's lovely but I know we are always critical of our own work. Some we are really pleased with others not. All I can say is it looked great on t.v. yesterday and Sue appreciated it. Have a good day. Love Christine H xx

  16. I think this is really sweet Julia - mind you I can see a challenge for us to get the components and see how we would put them together. I might have a go. Having said that I love the colours used and the a background is gorgeous!!

  17. I like this card and can't understand why you don't. Maybe the dark blue embossed would have been good or maybe the bow in a darker blue may have balanced it. Anyway looks fab to me!

  19. Hi Julia
I have to agree with the ladies, I don't see anything wrong with the card. The only thing I would maybe do is move the ribbon down into the bottom right hand corner.
Other than that the card, dies and colour all work.
