Seasons Greetings

Hi Bloggers.

I'm demoing at Strikes in Beverley today 10am till 4pm. I have some Spellbinders dies and some Phill Martin goodies to demo today.

Here's today's card that I mostly made at my demo at Samuel Taylors in Leeds last Saturday -

For the background, I used the Bargello Technique with some waste from 3 of the papers from Phill's Frosty Christmas Holly Paper Pad (See this post fot a description on how to do the background). I ran the background piece through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Let it Snow Embossing Folder. I then rubbed some PM Frosty Blossom Gilding Wax over to bring the embossed design out more.

I made a frame out of Coconut White Card using a couple of dies from Sue Wilson's Double Pierced Rectangles Die Set. Leaving the dies in place, I inked through the die with PM CS Frosty Blossom Colour Cloud using a Smoothie. I had an ink pad that I had made by adding some PM CS Frosty Blossom Ink Spray Mist to a piece of Cut n Dry Foam and then misting a little more Ink onto my Craft Sheet, adding a little PM CS Frosty Blossom Mica Powder to it and then adding that to my Ink Pad. With the stamp in my hand, I randomly stamped a tiny section of Phill's Holly Background Stamp into my frame - still leaving the dies in place.

I cut Sue's Seasons Greetings Die out of Coconut White Card twice. One of them I coloured by pouncing a Smoothie onto the die cut with Frosty Blossom Colour Cloud. I glued the 2 die cuts together with the coloured one on top offsetting them slightly.

I used my custom made ink pad to stamp a couple of the stamps in the Creative Expressions Shaded Poinsettia Stamp Set twice. I cut them out using Sue's Classic Poinsettia Die Set. I gave them a little shape, stacked them up and added a little Pink Dazzler. I cut a couple of Sue's Holly Sprays and added some PM CS Frosty Blossom PVA to the berries.

I assembled the card as shown adding some White Pearl Corners and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

It's just 2 weeks till my last workshop of the year at Yardley Gobion Village Hall just outside Milton Keynes. I've now settled on the projects.

Freebie Friday

Hi Bloggers.

I thought I'd offer a fairyly recent card up for grabs on Freebie Friday this week -

When I first showed this card it was a sneak peek of a demo so I'll give you a brief description on how it was made here - really easy.

I cut a square of Coconut White Card. I cut the Couture Creations Mercanto Flourish main die out of the centre. I cut the flourish that comes in the same die set out of Coconut White Card and glued it to the back of the frame in the empty corner (top left on this card).

I embossed a piece of Black Card with the Couture Creations Scattered Notes Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the design. You can't see the join as it's hidden by the frame die cut. I mounted the frame on top of the embossed Black Card using 3d Foam Tape.

I cut the largest 2 circular dies from the Couture Creations Bobtail Set out of Coconut White Card. I cut the Couture Creations Owl on a Branch  Die out of Black Card and popped him on top of the Bobtail die cut.

I assembled the card as shown adding some White Pearl Corners and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

If you'd like to go into the draw to win this card, please leave a lovely comment below. I'll do the draw on Monday - don't forget to check back to see if you've won! The card from last Friday hasn't been claimed yet - are you the winner? - check the winner announcement on Monday!

Celebrate Your Special Day

Hi Bloggers.

Hope you managed to grab a bargain yesterday - those stamps were amazing prices! They may still be available on the Hochanda website for a little while longer - don't miss out!

Here's today's card -

I cut a frame out of Coconut White Card using Sue Wilson's Double Pierced Squares. I used a beautiful stamp from the Justrite A Flower Flor Your Thoughts Stamp Set to stamp around the corners of the frame using Saffron Archival.

I embossed a piece of Coconut White Card using the Creative Expressions Leafy Quad Embossing Folder and mounted the frame onto it using 3d Foam.

I stamped the ornate frame from the Justrite Enjoy the Day Stamp Set using Saffron Archival. I stamped the sentiment from the Justrite Birthday Vintage Labels Four Stamp Set using Fern Green Archival. I cut out using Justrite Vintage Labels Four Die Set.

I stamped the Justrite Cornflower Damask Background onto Coconut White Card using Saffron Archival. I cut a couple of Sue's Perfect Peony Complete Petals Dies out and shaped them to make a flower adding a 5mm White Pearl. I tied a bow using 2 lengths of Off White Satin Ribbon.

I completed the card by adding another couple of layers cut using Sue's Double Pierced Squares and some White Pearls Corners.

John Lockwood is launching a One Day Special this evening at 8pm and continuing tomorrow with a whole bunch of Sue's Dies and some gorgeous stamps. I'll add the items I have in stock to my website some time today. They'll appear in the As seen onTV section.

Shows on Hochanda today

Hi Bloggers.

I have shows on Hochanda today at 11am, 2pm and 5pm. Hope you can join me. As I said yesterday, the shows are with a bunch of lovely Justrite Stamps at great prices. Do be sure to grab a bargain if you can.

I plan to show you lots of techniques rather than make completed cards so hit the record button!

Here's today's card which has quite a few technques in it -

With this one I started with the central panel. I stamped the sentiment and the frame from the Justrite Birthday Vintage Labels Four Stamp Set onto Milk Card using Cosmic Shimmer Flake & Gitter Glue applied with a piece of Cut n Dry Foam. I then added Ice Blue Cosmic Shimmer Polished Silk Glitter. When doing this, you do not need to scrub or wipe off the excess glitter - just tap it off. I used a couple of dies from the Justrite Vintage Labels Four Die Set to cut them out.

I went around the edges of the oval die cut with Phill Martin CS Decadent Teal Colour Cloud using a Smoothie.

I made myself an ink pad by misting a piece of Cut n Dry Foam with Aqua Breeze Cosmic Shimmer Ink Spray Mist. I used it to ink up the Justrite Dotted Fronds Background Stamp and stamped onto Milk Card. I cut it down to a panel and inked around the edges with Decadent Teal Colour Coud. I matted onto a piece of Black Card.

I popped a little more Aqua Breeze Ink Spray Mist onto my Craft Sheet and added a little Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent Mica Powder. I mixed this into the ink and added it to my Ink Pad. I used this to ink up the Justrite Cornflower Damask Background Stamp and stamped onto Milk Card. I trimmed it a little, edged with Decadent Teal Colour Cloud and matted it onto a piece of Black Card. Unfortunately, it's really hard to catch the gorgeous shimmer on camera.

For the main background, I ran a piece of Milk Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Art Deco Fanfare Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Decadent Teal Colour Cloud.

I popped some Aqua Breeze Ink Spray Mist onto my Craft Sheet and mixed it with a little Cosmic Shimmer Warm White Matt Chalk Paint. I used a little piece of Cut n Dry Foam to pick it up and 'ink' the Justrite Dotted Fronds Background Stamp and stamped onto Milk Card. I cut 2 sizes of Sue Wilson's Perfect Peony : Complete Petals Dies out twice and cut the corresponding Perfect Peony : Open Petals Dies out of Milk Card twice. I glued the Open Petal die cuts to the Closed Petal die cuts at the centre only, shaped them, stacked them up offsetting them and added a Small Black Circle Dazzler.
I cut some leaves out of Black Card using Sue's Laurel Leaves Die Set.

I assembled the card as shown adding some 8mm Cream Pearls and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

I don't have many of the items that are on today's shows but you can see the items that I do have in stock on my website here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sneak Peek

Hi Bloggers.

I thought I'd share a sneak peek from tomorrow's shows. The shows feature some goreous Justrite Stamps at some really great prices. I'm hoping to be able to share a whole bunch of techniques with you across the 3 hours.

Back in January this year I showcased the A Flower For Your Thoughts Stamp Set which is so very pretty. I made a bunch of lovely samples with this set, even though I say so myself. But, do you think I can find them? Not a single one! I'm sure they're somewhere. It's very frustrating. So, as I can't show them tomorrow, you can see them as featured on the blog in these posts (ignore the last few posts - can't seem to narrow the search!)

Anyhow, here's one of the new samples that I've made -

The flower heads and the foliage come as different stamps in this stamp set which is brilliant for getting different colours on your images. I stamped the foliage in Fern Green Archival and the flowers in Saffron Archival. I cut them all out using Sue Wilson's Double Pierced Squares and then a mat for each one out of Black Card using the same die set.

I made a messy background on Coconut White Card. With the stamp in my hand, I randomly stamped the Justrite Dotted Fronds Background using Saffron Archival. I repeated the process with the Justrite Cornflower Damask Background and Fern Green Archival. I then ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Christmas Vineyard Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the design. I inked around the edges with Saffron Archival.

I stamped the frame from the Justrite Enjoy the Day Vintage Labels Four Stamp Set using Fern Green Archival then stamped the sentiment within it using Saffron Archival. I cut it out using Justrite Vintage Labels Four Die Set. I cut the same die out of Black Card. I cut it right down the centre and then offset the two pieces behind the sentiment.

I assembled the card as shown adding a Small Black Circle Dazzler in each corner and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

Phill Martin is continuing with his One Day Special on Hochanda today at 9am, 12noon, 4pm and 7pm. You can see the items I have in stock on my website here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Smile

Hi Bloggers.

I have a bit of a two-fer for you today - the same card but in different colours.

This is the one I demoed on Hochanda -

The backing paper is from the Couture Creations Vintage Rose 12 x 12 Paper Pad. The border paper is from the same paper pad - looking at it here, it looks like the same paper! I don't think it is as it has words rather than notes, but maybe I intended to use the other side for the border and forgot? Who knows! Anyway, I edged the border with a little Black Tie Dye Ink using a Smoothie. I cut a border out of Black Card using the Couture Creations Bobtail Set. The border die has no cutting edges at the sides so you can easily extend it as I did here.

I used the 2 circular dies in the set together to cut a fancy circular frame out of Black Card. I used the smaller of those 2 dies to cut a circle out of Coconut White Card. I ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Music of the Heart Embossing Folder. I inked around the edges with Tattered Rose Distress Ink using a Smoothie and then rubbed Blush Gilding Wax over the embossed design. I cut the Couture Creations Treble Clef Die out of Black Card.

I tied a bow using 3 lengths of Black American Seam Binding. I ran the Couture Creations Island Flower Border through the Grand Calibur with a strip of card from the Paper Pad. I cut it down into individual flowers and used them to make a flower for my bow. I added a White 5mm Pearl to the centre.

I cut a sentiment panel out of the Paper Pad. I cut the Couture Creations Script Smile Die out of Black Card.

I assembled the card as shown adding a White Pearl Corner and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat. The mats on this one were Coconut White Card coloured with Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

This was my sample card made using the other colour way in the Paper Pad -

I used Bundled Sage Distress Ink and Phill Martin Vintage Sage Gilding Wax on the one above.

Phill Martin is launching a One Day Special on Hochanda this evening at 8pm and continuing on tomorrow. Hope you can tune in. I've set up a section on my website 'As seen on TV'. I don't stock all products that are on TV but I thought it might help you find products.

Don't forget to pop by later to see if you have won Freebie Friday!

Thanks for stopping by.

Framed Notes

Hi Bloggers.

Got back quite late last night from a busy demo day at Samuel Taylors. Today I need to re-group and get on with my prep for Wednesday's shows on Hochanda.

Here's today's card -

For the background within the frame, I cut the Couture Creations Island Flower Border out of a couple of papers from Phill Martin's Graceful Butterflies & Dragonflies 8 x 8 Paper Pad. I glued them to a piece of Coconut White Card and ran them through the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Random Daisies Embossing Folder.

I made a frame out of Coconut White Card and the plain side of a paper from Phill's Paper Pad using Sue Wilson's Ormate Pierced Rectangles Die Set. I added this to my background using 3d Foam.

I cut the Couture Creations Musical Notes Die out of Coconut White Card and rubbed Phill's Cosmic Shimmer Decadent Denim Gilding Wax over the surface.

I cut the largest die in Sue's Ornate Pierced Rectangles Die Set out of Coconut Card. I embossed a piece of Coconut White Card using the Couture Creations Cotton Thread Quilt Embossing Folder. I added these 2 layers to the back of my framed piece.

I tied a bow using Blue Satin Edged Organza. I pressed a Metal Dazzler Setting into Clear Perfect Medium, added Cosmic Shimmer Blue Speckle Embossing Powder and heat set. I added a Blue Circle Dazzler.

I assembled the card as shown adding a couple of White 5mm Pearls to the corners and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

Thanks for stopping by.
