Make a Splash

Hi Bloggers.

Thanks for all your comments and emails yesterday. Glad you enjoyed the shows.

Here's a demo card from yesterday (sorry about the picture quality) -

For the background, I used Coconut White Card. I stated by randomly inking through the Grid Mask using Antique Linen Distress Ink. Then, with the stamp in my hand, using the same ink pad, I randomly stamped the Justrite Garden Gate Background. Finally, I stamped the starfish from the Justrite At the Beach Oval Medallion Labels Stamp Set, again using Antique Linen. I made sure the ink was dry and then ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Chiaro Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the design (this is a repeating pattern) and then inked around the edges with Antique Linen.

I stamped the main image from the At the Beach Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Olympic Gold Lustre Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Justrite Nested Oval Medallion Labels Dies and inked through the die with Antique Linen.

I stamped the sentiment from the Creative Expressions Warmest Wishes Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Olympic Gold Lustre. I cut it out using Spellbinders Standard Circles Large and inked through the die with Antique Linen.

I stamped a couple of the shells from the At the Beach set and the Starfish using Perfect Medium and embossed with Olympic Gold Lustre. I cut them out using scissors and added them to the card using 3d Foam.

I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Golden Pearl around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia

This is a lovely card. I saw it yesterday on C&C and thought it looked so effective. I really like the one colour technique and it's not something I've tried yet as I love background papers. One to try though I think.

  9. Morning Julia, Your card is gorgeous, it was brilliant watching you demo this on tv, really gorgeous.
I am still laughing from your show with Nigel, you started my chuckling when you mentioned "messing about in Shawn's pants !!!", then a little later when Nigel was saying "did you just re-adjust your bra then Julia !!", I must admit I had to re-wind my Virgin box, as I had not noticed, then he wouldn't shut up about it, and your face was going more and more red, it was honestly so very funny, you have a fantastic rapport with Nigel. I hope you have recovered now ha ha.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  30. Hi Julia I saw you demo this card and I think it's great! Love the background you created on this card by stamping and inking it as well as embossing it. The focal image is a lovely stamp and a great colour match with the gold embossing powder together with the antique linen distress ink. I thoroughly enjoyed your demos always such an inspiration and informative as well as a bit fun. I spent lots of money I shouldn't have but enjoyed doing it! Thank goodness for flexipay! Good to see you on our screens, I look forward to the next show.
    Best wishes from Katie-Louise

  31. I love to see your demo's and you do make me laugh! The bit about your bra strap and what Nigel said, it was great. I hope anyone that was watching the show and were feeling down that would have made them feel a bit better in themselves. Love Jayne xx
