Hi Bloggers.
This card started out like this -
But with the Pick of the week selling out so fast I was asked to include some extra dies in my demo so it ended up like this -
I think I prefer it with the extra bits!
For the background, I ran the Venetian M-Bossabilities through the Grand Calibur with some Coconut White Card. I ran it through a second time to extend the pattern. I then inked around the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink using Cut n Dry Foam.
I stamped the large background stamp from the Studio 490 Sentimental Art Stamp Set onto white card using Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I dried the image with my heat tool and then cut a Labels Twenty Eight from it. I inked through the die with Vintage Photo.
I stamped the image from the Creative Expressions Gala Event Stamp Set using Coffee Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut the image out leaving a small white border all around it. I cut 2 wings out of vellum using the Spellbinders Wings of Hope die set.
I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set again using Coffee Archival and embossed with the clear powder. I cut it using the Spellbinders Back to Basics Tags die set and inked through the die with Vintage Photo. I added an Idea-ology Fanciful Accoutrement to the hole in the tag.
I cut a flower out of Kraftcore using Spellbinders Spiral Blossom Four and added a couple of 'leaves' out of white card using Spellbinders Jewel Fantasies.
I assembled the card as shown adding some piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Design Ruler.
Thanks for stopping by.
Julia.
Hi Julia, the dress looks so dramatic, the folds stand out well. As you say the extras make a difference. Sometimes less is more but in this case more is better.

Absolutely beautiful Julia,
ReplyDeleteSometimes the classics really are the best. Lovely, simply lovely. I was licky enough to get everything included on the POTW show within the 1st 5mins of the 1st show and I am so glad I did. I love all the dies and folders.

morning julia,

Morning Julia, Another stunning card, I loved the first card but the second card is stunning. I am a 'more is more' king od girl and this is stunning. I love the colours you have used and love the venetian embossing folder, I wish that had been in the POTW. I have done the pricking around the edge technique on some of my cards, but I can never get the corners to marry up somehow, what am I doing wrong (there is either a little gap or 2 holes too close together). Lots of love from Patricia xx
ReplyDeleteHope it's OK if I put a note here for Patricia, Julia. I had problems with my corners but I saw a rule on C&C from Cheetah crafts. It's called Layer Perfect and it is for helping you to get your matting and layering with the correct margins. This is L shaped and has the pricking holes all round the edges so the corners are always perfect. I think Sue Wilson used one on her shows recently. Hugs Sue P (Planetsusie) xx
DeleteI like both of the cards but am not sure about the wings though, I'd probably leave them off but thank you for the ideas, best wishes Jackie D
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more Julia, I prefer the second version. I have to say though, that like the comment before, I would leave the wings off.

DeleteLoving the card today but prefer the first one. Will have to give this one a try never thought about putting in the image outside of the die like that, I always put them in the middle
Sue. Xx
Morning Julia

Emma
Not sure about the wings but like the addition of the rose!
ReplyDeleteOh wow Julia - I absolutely love the card with the wings, rose and feathers - it really draws me in! I do love anything steampunky though and this is just a little in that direction.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant colours as well. I might have a go at this one and may even use a hint of colour on the wings to make them stand out a bit more. This is one of my favourite cards ever.

Hi Julia, my favourite is the second one with the additions. They are just perfect and I love the colours you have used. Another fantastic card. TFS. Christine H xx

this is a lovely looking card
ReplyDeleteRelly classy and like the idea of offsetting the stamped image. Have these stamps on order from you so can't wait to have a go!
ReplyDeleteIf it were a vote I would choose second edition like most of your other bloggers. I like the sepia look makes the card more intriguing
