This card was a demo I didn't quite manage to finish in last weeks shows. I know orange isn't everyone's favourite colour but let's face it if I made every card from a small set of the most popular colours then I think this would be a pretty boring blog! Anyways, it's good to challenge yourself with colours that are out of your comfort zone. Try it - you may find yourself a new favourite!
For the background, I spritzed some Coconut White Card with Cosmic Shimmer Marigold Vintage Mister. I then inked through the Floral Vines Mask with Wild Honey Distress Ink moving the mask around so that the whole area was covered.
I stamped Michelle from the Fashionista Best Friends Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured her in using Cosmic Shimmer Matt Drawing Inks and then cut her out using Spellbinders Lattice Rectangles. I inked through the die with Wild Honey using Cut n Dry Foam.
I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with clear powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Fancy Framed Tags Two and inked through the die with Wild Honey.
I tied a messy bow using 3 lengths of American Seam Binding in Chalk White. I made a flower using the Creative Expressions Floral Embossing Folder (see my tutorial here ). I added a couple of White Pearl Decorative Stick Pins to the back of the bow.
I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in White around the edges.
Thanks for stopping by.

Morning Julia, I so agree with you Colour is good, and by playing with it we can find colour combos we never thought of - Nature is colourful so we should take that into our crafting. At the moment im loving vintage cards but just as much i love a bright colourful summer card. On a grey day colour cheers me up!

A nice bright card for a nice bright day. I've decided I must get the embossing folder for the flowers, they look so compact and neat. Regards, Jackie D
ReplyDeleteHello Julia, A warm bright card, just the thing for a dull autumn morning. I use orange quite a bit, but you are right we should get out of our comfort zone with colours, mine used to be pink and lavenders, thanks to you I have got more daring.
ReplyDeleteLove the flowers and the sentiment is so true.
Have a great day everyone.
