Thinking of You

Marilyn still hasn't claimed her prize. I'll give her till Tuesday and then I'll try something else!

I suppose the countdown to Christmas is on now, being December 1st. Can't say I'm really into it this year yet. Too much else going on at the moment.

Anyhow, here's today's card -

The background on this one is easy peasy - it's one of the card panels from the Heartfelt Creations Antiquity Paper Pad. It really gives the impression of lots of layers but it's completely flat. I added the Thinking of You border to the top (from the same pad).

I stamped the image from the Heartfelt Creations Floral Keys & Locket Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured in using Aged Mahogany and Bundled Sage Distress Inks. I dabbed a little Flake & Glitter Glue onto the spray in the image and then added some Cosmic Shimmer Aurora Crystal Sparkle Glitter. I cut the image out using Spellbinders Labels 18 and inked through the die with Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks. I added a couple of keys that I had previously stamped and cut using the Heartfelt Creations Burnished Key Stamp and Burnished Key Die Set. I also added a key from the Creative Expressions Assorted Key Charms Pack.

I made some flowers from some other papers in the Antiquity Pad using Heartfelt Creations Posy Patch Die Set, adding some Black Pearls to the centre. I also added some Faux Suede Leaves.

I assembled the card as shown adding some more pearls in the corners and some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Black Pearl around the edges.

You hold the Key

Hopefully, snow permitting, I'm off to see Kathryn for the day today. For those of you who asked or missed the link last week, here's the link to see all of the new Spellbinders dies due in shops at the end of February/beginning of March here.

Here's today's card -

The background is simply a piece of Coconut White Card popped through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Lattice Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the pattern. For a change, I rounded off the corners with a corner rounder punch.

I stamped the heart from the Creative Expressions From the Heart Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using scissors and went around the edge with a black marker pen to hide any white bits. For the concertina backing, I cut 2 of the largest Spellbinders Stately Circles out of Burgundy Card. Then I scored across the circles. I scored from every peak in the design across to every recess in the design. I made a cut along one of the score lines to the centre and then concertina folded. I repeated this with the other circle and then glued the 2 together and popped the stamped heart on top.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set again using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Matting Basics B and made a mat out of Burgundy card using Matting Basics A.

I tied a bow using Red Sheer Wrinkled Edge Ribbon and added a Black Dazzler. I coloured a Key Charm with a Black Promarker and glued it below the bow using Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue.

I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Black Pearl  around the edges.

Thanks a Bunch

I'm due on Create & Craft today at 8am, 1pm and 6pm with the Christmas dies that Sue and I demoed last Wednesday and Thursday. As I type this (Monday evening), I'm listening to Gonna Make You a Star by David Essex. I just had to download it after the shows with Loen last Thursday. I also downloaded Sugar Baby Love by the Rubettes - I was amazed at how many of their songs were on iTunes.

Today's card is from the shows with the Card Creator Dies a couple of weeks ago.

For the background I randomly stamped one of the stamps from the Creative Expressions Floral Silhouette Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival. I stamped it first on to some paper and then onto the card to lighten the image. I then stamped a little butterfly from the Creative Expressions Button Florals stamp set using Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. I popped this through the Grand Calibur with the Spellbinders Ornamental Iron M-Bossabilities Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the pattern.

I stamped the Tulips from the Floral Silhouette Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival. I cut it out using Spellbinders Matting Basics B and inked through the die using Victorian Velvet and Cut n Dry Foam. I cut a frame out of Foundations Dot and Dash Paper using a Fancy Postage Edge die and a larger Matting Basics die than the one used to cut out the tulips.

I cut the largest of the Fancy Ribbon Threader dies out of some pink card and threaded some Rose Petal American Seam Binding through it. I tied a messy bow using 3 lengths of the American Seam Binding. I added a key charm and a button with some Pastel Baker's Twine tied through it. I stamped the sentiment from the Button Florals Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using a small Fancy Ribbon Threader die and inked through the die with Victorian Velvet.

I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Dusky Pink.

Last Metal Card

This is the last metal card that I've made so far that I'm sharing with you today.

For this one I used some copper metal. I dropped some Butterscotch, Pesto, Sunshine Yelow and Terracotta Alcohol Ink directly onto the metal. They spread out into each other. I then added a few drops of Blending Solution which dispersed the ink. I then added some more drops of Alcohol Ink. When dry, I ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Spellbinders Brick and Bark M-Bossabilities Folder. I sanded it to reveal the copper core.

I cut a panel out of Brass Metal using the Fancy Weave Die Set. I stamped the sentiment from the Creative Expressions Heartfelt Sentiments Stamp Set using Coffee Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Matting Basics B and inked through the die with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I added a key from the Assorted Key Charms Pack and finished off with some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Choco Brown around the edges.

You're a Classic

Here's another monochromatic card from the Cars shows, but this time I've used milk card instead of white.

For the background I popped the Tyre Tracks Mask on to some milk card at a jaunty angle and ran it through the Grand Calibur using the embossing sandwich. I inked all over with Black Soot Distress Ink using Cut n Dry Foam. I curled a couple of the corners using a cocktail stick. I wrapped some Black & White Baker's Twine around the bottom section of the background and tied a Creative Expressions Key Charm which I had coloured with a Black Promarker to it.

I stamped the image from the Creative Expressions Classic Cars Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Labels Twenty-Eight and inked through the die with Black Soot Distress Ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set again using the Jet Black Archival and embossed with the clear powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Mega Curved Rectangles and inked through the die with Black Soot.

I assembled the card as shown adding dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA around the edges.

You're Vintage

Thanks for your comments and emails yesterday - much appreciated. Here's quite a simple card from the shows yesterday.

I started with the background. I inked up one side of the Creative Expressions Brick Embossing Folder with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I placed a piece of Milk Card on the clean side of the folder, closed the folder and then used a brayer over the top to transfer the ink. I then added some Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. Next I ran the background through the Grand Calibur with the Retro Squares Mask, I tore around the edges and then inked all over with Vintage Photo using Cut n Dry Foam. I splatted some Vintage Photo Distress Stain and dired with my heat tool. The splats seemed to settle behind the embossing powder even though they were added afterwards. Cool, eh?

I stamped the image from the Creative Expressions Vintage Cars Stamp Set using Coffee Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I coloured it in using some Vintage Photo Distress Ink that I smeared on my craft sheet, added water to and used a paint brush.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using the coffee archival and embossed with clear powder. I cut it up into sections, edged it with a little Vintage Photo and added it to the background.

I added a Key Charm to the top left hand corner and some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Choco Brown around the edges.
