Hi Bloggers.
I'm heading off up North again this afternoon for a demo at Strikes in Northwich, Cheshire (address for your SatNavs here). Hope the M1 and M6 are kind to me today! Any orders placed after 12noon today won't be posted until Tuesday - sorry.
Here's today's card from the Craft Clinic last month -
For the background, I ran a piece of Coconut White Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions 5 3/4" x 7 1/2" Sparkle Square Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the design (repeating pattern). I wrapped a piece of Creative Expressions Bluebird Satin Ribbon around the centre.
For the background panel, I used a piece of Gloss Black Card and covered an area completely with Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue (it needs to be quite thick). I then dropped mica powder from the Cosmic Shimmer Summer Shades Mica Spray Set completely covering the glue. I used a stiff brush to press the powder into the glue a little then used my heat tool from below. The glue bubbles up and the mica settles into it. It takes a while but it's quite cool to watch. I trimmed it a little and matted it onto Black Card.
I popped a little Frosted Mallow and Blue Lilac Mica Powder onto my craft sheet, added a little water and used them to paint on the Creative Expressions Tulip Trio Stamp. I misted it a little with water and stamped onto Coconut White Card. I cut it out using Spellbinders Labels 25. I created a faux nestie by drawing around the outside of the die onto Black Card and cutting out using scissors.
I stamped the sentiment that comes with the Tulip Trio using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics and used another Matting Basics Die to cut out a Black Mat.
I tied a bow using 2 lengths of Bluebird Satin Ribbon and added a Crystal Sparkler.
I assembled the card as shown adding some 5mm and 8mm Black Pearls in the corners and piercing around the edges.
Thanks for stopping by.
Julia.

Hi Julia, the colours in this card are lovely and your sentiment stamp is so crisp. I use a good quality black archival ink so I can only guess the feathering is due to the card I've been using. Just got some Creative Exp card so hopefully should be ok now.
ReplyDeleteHappycrafter Jan made me chuckle when she said your background was "defective" he he. Good job we know what you mean Jan.
Blessings to all - Deb C xx
