Hi Bloggers.
I spent the day yesterday hindering John Lockwood in his Workshop at Creative Expressions HQ. I hadn't intended staying all day as I have so much to do at the moment but somehow I was still there at 4 o'clock! John is a wiz at kinetic cards and boxes, which I'm not, so it was a great day and I learned lots but now I have less time to get stuff done! Oh well! John's next workshop in in June - keep an eye out on John's blog for details to be announced soon.
So, I put this card together quickly when I got home using a couple of leftover demo bits once again - thank goodness I have so many! Apologies for the shadows but I had to have the light on when I took the photos as it was getting a little late!
The frame is made using a couple of Spellbinders 6 x 6 Matting Basics A Dies and Coconut White Card. I lined them up on my tan mat which was on my pink plate and then added the Wired Mask and then the base plate. I
ran them through the Grand Calibur and removed the mask. I then ran it
through the Calibur with the cut sandwich. I rubbed some of Phill Martin's Decadent Teal Gilding Wax over the surface.
For the background, I used the Native Mask, Peacock Feathers Distress Ink and a Smoothie. Instead of adding the ink through the mask with the usual blending action, I dabbed it through so it took on the texture of the Smoothie. It gives a more mottled effect.
I cut the heart die out of Coconut White Card using Spellbinders Lovin' Diamonds Die Set. I pressed Perfect Medium into the die cut, added Phill Martin Cosmic Shimmer Decadent Teal Embossing Powder and heat set. I added more Perfect Medium, more powder and heat set again.
I cut a piece of Aqua Silky Crush Ribbon in half lengthways and tied a bow using both pieces. I added an Aqua Dazzler.
A few mats of Teal and Coconut White Card and a bit of piercing completed the card.
I'm heading up North again this afternoon - this time more to the east to Leeds for a demo at Samuel Taylors Roseville Street tomorrow. At least no M6 this time!
Thanks forstopping by.
Julia.

Morning Julia, A very pretty card, loving the 'little bit teal', it's brilliant that you can utilise all your demo pieces, especially when short on time !! Great that you picked up a few tips from John, but I'll bet that John has picked up just as many tips and techniques from yourself too.
ReplyDeleteHave a safe journey to Leeds.

ReplyDeleteHi Julia. It made me smile when you said you had stayed at John's workshop longer than intended, I do this all the time at demos, intention is to go for a quick look and then end up stopping for ages. Think I'm a professional watcher and by the time I get home I have seen so much I can't remember. Have fun today. Oh and lovely card by the way. SueL x
ReplyDeleteGood morning Julia, this card is beautiful, right up my street. I'm very much a blue and green girl and love love love teal. You have very skillfully got just the right balance of tones with this one so it's not too dark or heavy but with enough strong accents to make sure it's not washed out. You are very talented! Must get some silky crush ribbon.
