Hi Bloggers.
Busy day at Strikes in Stokesly yesterday. I was so pleased that I had a quicker journey back home, getting in just after 8pm.
Here's today's card -
I was, and still am, unsure about using this background on this card. Maybe just an embossed piece of Coconut White Card would have been better but this poor background was made weeks ago at one of my demos and it really needed a home!
So, for the background, I used Sue Wilson's High Low Technique. I added a piece of Creative Expressions Double Sided Self Adhesive Sheet to a piece of Coconut White Card and removed the backing sheet. I dusted the Wired Mask lightly with my Anti Static Pad and placed it dusted side down onto the adhesive sheet. I added some Decadent Teal and Decadent Denim Phill Martin Cosmic Shimmer Mica Powder and spread it around using a Dusting Brush. I removed the excess with a dry wet wipe. I removed the mask and gave the piece a good tap on the back to try and remove any lingering loose mica powder. I then added some Cosmic Shimmer Iced Snow Glitter Jewels.
I stamped the sentiment from the Creative Expressions Fabulous Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto Coconut White Card using Cobalt Archival. I cut it out using Spellbinders Curved Squares and inked through the die with Stonewashed Adirondack Dye Ink and a Smoothie. I cut a larger Curved Square out of Cobalt Card.
I cut the largest die in the Spellbinders Decorative Curved Squares Die Set out of Sky Blue Card.
I made a flower out of Sky Blue Card using Spellbinders Flower Play Die Set following Sue's Tutorial here and here. I added some Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue and some Iced Snow Glitter Jewels. I cut a couple of leaves out of Cobalt Card using Spellbinders Romantic Vines Die Set.
I assembled the card as shown piercing around the edges.
Don't forget to pop by later to see if you have won a Gemini Die - not sure what time it'll be! lol
Thanks for stopping by.
Julia.

Hi Julia...I think the background looks gorgeous as it is & as for the decorative and curved squares...they have a wow factor for me also...sometimes there is a colour that suits a particular die shape more than any other and the cobalt does just that for the large curved square...simply gorgeous along with the romantic Vines...before too long this die will find its way into my basket...I have something similar but it's not as pretty as this vine die. This card looks very pretty Julia and I'm sure it looks even more stunning in real time...thank you so much for sharing your talents with us again today...Ps so glad you had a lovely day at your demos and a pleasant journey home...Take care and hugs and smiles to you all...love Beth B x x x

ReplyDeleteHi Julia,
ReplyDeleteI understand what you mean about the background, maybe the decorative square would have worked differently in the cobalt blue. Either way the card is still lovely.
Thanks for all the great ideas,
Heather Treble
Gorgeous card Julia, I love the background, I think it goes well with the die as in the shapes, perhaps you could have cut the die in White? Very pretty card.

Hi Julia, A lovely card with a great colour combo, I think the background works well, but it would look equally lovely with a white glittery background too.

Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteWell I like your background! but I know what you mean about needing a home..............I often do things and put them to one side until I can justify using them on a project. This looks good and you should be proud of it!
