Gilded and painted Robin Redbreast

Hi Bloggers.

I'm heading up to Creative Expressions HQ in Kettering again today to run another workshop on Stained Glass Window Techniques. Looking forward to it.

Here's today's card with many thanks to Iris Clark for introducing me to a great technique -

I started by cutting Sue Wilson's Robin Redbreast Stained Glass Window Die out of Black Card. I added a piece of Creative Expressions Double Sided Self Adhesive Sheet to the back. I turned over to the front and added Cosmic Shimmer Persian Dawn Gilding Flakes. I removed the excess using a piece of Rubit Scrubit.

I then painted some of the areas using the Christmas CS Watercolour Palette. It's hard not to get paint on the lines but you can take a clean wet paint brush to remove the paint from the lines. If this is too painful to do (😐) then you can just cut another Robin Redbreast and glue it on top.

I matted onto Antique Gold Pearl Card then Rich Red Card and popped onto a Black Card blank.

Lisa Horton is continuing with her One Day Special on Hochanda today with shows at 9am, 1pm and 5pm. I'm offering 10% discount on items from the shows. You can find them here. Offer applies till midnight tonight or while stocks last. Discount will be applied automatically at checkout.

 Thanks for stopping by.

Walk the Plank

Hi Bloggers.

Had a great weekend with Kathryn - Shawn Mendes at the O2 on Friday night and then went to see Wicked on Saturday afternoon. Thankfully, we were in our hotel room watching a movie when the London Bridge attack happened. Very sad that we've been hit again.

Today, I'll be catching up with my web orders and prepping for next week.

Here's today's card -

The background is based on a Dyan Reaveley technique from her Guide to Art Journaling Book.

I started by waking up (ie spritzing with water) the red and the green in the Cosmic Shimmer Essentials Watercolour Palette. I painted them in stripes across a piece of Watercolour Card.

I placed the Heroic Mask on top on one side and spritzed with water. I turned the mask over and laid over the remainder of the background pressing it down. I removed the mask and blotted off the whole piece with Kitchen Roll. I then spritzed through a little of the Every Which Way Mask in several places using Phill Martin's Old Gold Mister.

I used 3 sizes of  container tops - I dipped them in Inky Midnight CS Mixed Media Paint and added them to my background as shown. I repeated with Perfect White CS Mixed Media Paint. I then added some lines of Black Paint using the side of a scraper and repeated with the White Paint.

I trimmed my background a little and matted onto Black Card and then Coconut White Card.

I stamped the 2 characters from the Woodware Ahoy Matey Stamp Set using Versafine Ink onto Watercolour Card. I coloured them using the Essentials Watercolour Palette and a Waterbrush. I cut them out using scissors and added them to my background using CE Mounting Cushion.

I stamped and coloured the parrot from the same set.

I added the scull & cross bones, stamped with versafine ink.

I stamped the sentiment onto Coconut White Card using Versafine Ink.I cut it out using Sue Wilson's Stitched Flags.

I painted a piece of Black Card with CS Graphite Shimmer Paint. Once dry, I cut out the anchor from Sue's Nautical Accessories Die Set and sanded it back to reveal the black core.

Not a quick card to make but lots of fun!

The winner of the card from Freebie Friday on 2nd June is .................................................

Faux Quilted Bonsai Stained Glass Window

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

This is a very simple card to make, a little time consuming but very simple.

I started by cutting Sue Wilson's Bonsai Stained Glass Window Die out of Black Card. Then, I ran the die through the Platinum Machine using the emboss sandwich with a piece of Coconut White Card slightly larger than the Black piece of Card.

I painted the areas on the embossed White Card using the CS Christmas Watercolour Paint Set and a Water Brush. I made sure I painted right down to the lines. The paint dries really quickly. I placed the black die cut on top and added extra paint where necessary. Once I was happy, I used Quickie Glue to adhere the black die cut to my painted piece. I matted onto another piece of Black Card and onto a Coconut White Card blank.

Thank you for all your orders over the Bank Holiday Weekend. I will do my best to get as many of them out today but some may slip to tomorrow. My youngest cat is poorly at the moment and I need to try and get him to the vets today which is never a quick trip. He could have waited till I had less prep to do! Lol 😟

Thanks for stopping by.

Woodware One Day Special Shows continue today

Hi Bloggers.

One Day Special shows continue today at 9am, 12noon, 4pm and 7pm. I hope you can join me.

I have another two-fer for you today.

Here's your first card -

I started by misting a piece of Coconut White Card with PM CS Vintage Blue Ink Spray Mist through the Droplets Mask. Once dry, I stamped it with sentiments from the Woodware Celebrating You and Sweet Mermaid Stamp Sets using Watering Can Archival.

I dusted with an Anti-Static Pad. I added Clear Perfect Medium down the left-hand side and a little at the bottom. I added CS Gold Detail Powder then sprinkled over some CS Fools Gold Brilliant Sparkle Embossing Powder, CS Antique Gold Mica Flakes and CS Aurora Hexagons Glitter Jewels. I carefully heat set from below, adding more powders, mica flakes and glitter jewels as desired.

I trimmed, matted onto Black Card and then onto Coconut White Card.

I stamped the mermaid from the Woodware Sweet Mermaid onto Coconut White Card using Clear Perfect Medium and embossed with CS Gold Detail Embossing Powder. I coloured her in with CS Essentials Watercolour Palette and CS Summer Garden Watercolour Palette using a Water Brush. I did not colour her scales on heer tail. I added Quickie Glue to some of the scales on her tail. Once clear,I added Sea Green CS Polished Silk Glitter. I added more Quickie Glue to more sections of her tail. Once clear, I added CS Ice Blue Polished Silk Glitter. I added Quickie Glue to the remaining scales and once clear added CS Brilliant Blue Polished Silk Glitter.

I cut my mermaid out using scissors leaving a thin white border around and added her to my background using CE Mounting Cushion.

Here's your second card -

I stamped the Woodware Les Chats onto Watercolour Card using Onyx Black Versafine Ink. I coloured in using CS Essentials Watercolour Palette and a Water Brush.

I stamped the sentiment from the Woodware Plenty of Birthdays Stamp Set using Versafine.

I dipped the end of a brush into Inky Midnight CS Acrylic Mixed Media Paint and popped some spots around my card as shown.

Once dry, I edged the card with Clear Perfect Medium by running a Clear Perfect Medium Pen along my Tim Holtz Ruler. I added CS Fools Gold Brilliant Sparkle Embossing Powder and heat set.

I finished my card by matting onto Black Card and popping onto a Coconut White Card blank.

I've loaded pics of all the samples from the shows to the Gallery Section of this Blog and to an album on my Julia Watts Crafts Facebook Page.

I'm offering 10% discount on items I have for sale on my website from the shows. You can find them here. Offer applies till midnight tonight or while stocks last. Discount will be applied automatically at checkout. Apologies, I did not manage to get any orders posted yesterday - I picked them but ran out of time so did not get them packed. I will get them out tomorrow.

Woodware One Day Special on Hochanda this evening

Hi Bloggers.

I'm launching a One Day Special on Hochanda this evening at 8pm with lots of fabulous Woodware Stamps. The one Day Special has a different format this time - you'll need to tune in to find out what that format is!

I have a two-fer for you today to tempt you 😊

Here's your first card -

I spritzed through the Droplets Mask using CS PM Vintage Blue Ink Spray Mist onto Coconut White Card - I used Phill Martin's in a box technique to get a nice fine mist. I cut it out using Sue Wilson's Double Pierced Squares and inked around the edges with CS Clear Day Colour Cloud using a Smoothie.

I stamped the Submarine from the Woodware Mini Submarine Stamp Set onto Watercolour Card using Onyx Black Versafine Ink. I coloured in using CS Essentials Watercolour Palette and a Water Brush. I cut it out using scissors leaving a thin white border around the edges.

I stamped the fish, sea horse and starfish from the Woodware Sweet Mermaid Stamp Set onto Watercolour Card, again using Versafine Ink. I coloured in using some more of the paints from the palette and cut them out as before.

I cut some sea weed out of Rich Green Card using Sue's Underwater Accessories and added them in groups to the bottom of my background. I added some Clear Perfect Medium to the bottom of my seascape. I added CS Sea Turtle Brilliant Sparkle Embossing Powder (as usual, very hard to pick up the sparkle and shimmer on a photo - I'll try and wiggle it for you on tv).

I stamped the sentiment that somes in the Mini Submarine Set onto Coconut White Card using Versafine Ink. I trimmed it with scissors, edged with Clear Day Colour Cloud and matted onto Black Card.

I assembled the card as shown, matting onto Black Card and then Coconut White Card.

Here's your second card -

I started by creating a background based on a technique I found in Dyan Reaveley's Guide to Art Journalling Book. I used Watercolour Card. I spritzed it with water. I removed the nozzle from the CS PM Vintage Blue Ink Spray Mist and drew circles on the card, re-dipping for each circle. I misted with water again and then drew circles with CS Pastel Purple Chalk Mister in the same way. I misted with water once more and then drew circles with CS PM Old Gold Mister. I misted once more and then used the nozzle ends to flick some of the colours onto my background. I blotted with Kitchen Roll and put aside to dry.

Once dry, I stamped one of the flowers from the Woodware Fancy Flowers Stamp Set using Onyx Black Versafine Ink. I also stamped the sentiment from the Woodware Posy Ring Stamp Set. I coloured the leaves on the image using CS Essentials Watercolour Palette using a Water Brush. I matted onto Black Card and then onto a Coconut White Card Blank.

I stamped the flower head from the flower onto Watercolour Card twice. I coloured them with more of the paint from the Watercolour Palette. I cut the centre section out using scissors. I cut the whole head out using Sue's Double Pierced Circles. I stacked these on top of my main image using CE Mounting Cushion.

I completed my card by adding a 5mm Black Pearl to each corner.

I've loaded pics of all the samples from the shows to the Gallery Section of this Blog and to an album on my Julia Watts Crafts Facebook Page.

I'm offering 10% discount on items I have for sale on my website from the shows. You can find them here. Offer applies till midnight tomorrow night or while stocks last. Discount will be applied automatically at checkout.

See you later!
