For You

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card - an actual card! I was hoping to demo this yesterday afternoon on the 3pm show but the show was cancelled by Create & Craft. It's not an easy one to photograph! Also quite hard to describe but I'll do my best!

I started by scoring 2 pieces of A4 Coconut White Card down the centre to create 2 x A5 Card Blanks. On one of them I also scored down the gatefold lines.

Pop out cards are best tackled in 2 parts with the design on the front added last.

I designed the front first but as I said, added it to the actual card last.

For the background, I inked through the Floral Frame Mask in all 4 corners using Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Scattered Straw.

I stamped the Mini Floral Frame onto Custard Card using Perfect Medium and added Cosmic Shimmer True White Detail Embossing Powder. I stamped the sentiment from the All Occasions Stamp Set into the centre of the frame using Perfect Medium, added True White Powder and heat set the lot. I cut it out using Spellbinders Classic Squares and inked around the edges with Scattered Straw.

I cut the largest 2 dies in the Spellbinders Majesty Die Set out of Coconut White Card (I recommend Wax Paper for easier release) and inked through the die with Scattered Straw. I cut the largest die only from the same set out of Custard Card.

I cut a couple of leaves out of Custard Card using Sue's Curled Vines Die Set. I rubbed Enchanted Gold Gilding Wax over them. I made a flower out of White Crochet Ribbon.

I added White Pearls to the corners and then matted onto Black Card then Custard Card and put aside while I designed the inside of the card.

So, using the piece of card with the gatefold score lines, I lined the 2 smallest dies from Sue's Valencia Die Set along the centre fold. I ran them through the Grand Calibur. I had to go through a couple of times as the dies were in the centre of the plate. I added the largest die in the set for the emboss stage.

For the side panels, I inked through one of the corners of the Floral Frame Mask using Scattered Straw. I then turned the mask over so the design was going in the other direction and inked through again. I stamped 'LOVE' sentiment from the All Occasions Sentiments Stamp Set in the centre of each panel. I ran the panels through the Grand Calibur with the Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Scattered Straw. I matted them onto Black and then Custard Card as with the front and then glued them in place using Cosmic Shimmer Glue.

For the decorative paper that you can see though the aperture, I used a piece of Text & Graphic Paper. This is really white paper so to tone it down a bit I misted it with some Phill Martin Graceful Mustard Mister from Cosmic Shimmer. I then inked through the centre design of the Floral Frame Mask using Scattered Straw several times. With the Stamp in my hand, I randomly stamped Phill Martin's Resplendent Roses Background using Scattered Straw and then his Leafy Background. I trimmed the piece to 7" wide and just chopped a little off the length. I folded it in half and then added it to the centre of the A5 card blank.

I added the gatefold card to the A5 card securing by the side panels only.  I added the front design to the front of the card.

Hope some of you will try making a pop out card with some of your dies.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia.

  6. Hi Julia, An amazing card today, would have loved to have seen it demonstrated. Do they ever give a reason for cancelling your shows? So disappointing as you are my favourite, seems to be the same things on all the time now.

  19. Hi Julia
Another stunning card today. It's a shame that your 3pm show was cancelled. I bet they wouldn't cancel a tattered lace show for you. I was very cross that they did this. I'm up in Essex and had set the recorder at home.

  24. How thoughtless to cancel your show after the preparation you made for it. I was so disappointed as I get so much information from your demonstrations. The card today is just lovely and I think I'm going to have a go at it. I've never done a gate-fold card before but your explanation and photographs will help. Have a lovely day.

  26. Oooh! this is so beautiful Julia. Such a shame you didn't get chance to show it off on C&C. Bit rude of them to cancel a show at such short notice. I'm glad that we've got to see it here and have all the instructions too. Pat x

  27. I managed to catch a bit of the morning show - seeing the stamps and thinking I have those - so I have no excuse not to play and watch the whole show on repeat. I was disapointed that the second show was cancelled I had arranged my day so I could watch it in full. Nice idea to use the die to cut out a fancy apeture for the inner.
