A Step by Step

Hi Bloggers.

I have a pictorial tutorial today. I've used the Holly House All Dressed Up Cardmaking Kit and a piece of Coconut White Card.

Here's the finished card - an easel card.

I folded a piece of Coconut White Card in half. I used the largest die in the Spellbinders Flourished Frame Die Set to create the card blank.

I folded the front section of the card blank roughly in half. I cut some patterened paper using the same die and just trimmed a little off the end to fit the base of the card.

I cut the layers for the front of my card from the same die set as shown.

The sentiment is from the Creative Expressions Elegant Sentiments Stamp Set stamped uisng Jet Black Archival. Cut out using the same die set.

I made a couple of flowers using the Spellbinders Cinch & Go Die Set.

I added CS Glue and then CS Iced Snow Glitter Jewels.
The flourishes are from the Cinch & Go Set too.

I added a few 5mm White Pearls to finish the card.

John Lockwood has a One Day Special starting on Hochanda this evening at 8pm and continuing tomorrow at 9am, 12noon, 4pm and 7pm. I'm offering 10% discount on the items I have in stock here. Discount applies till Midnight tomorrow night.

Thanks for stopping by.

Best Wishes

Hi Bloggers.

Today's card is quite an inky one. I thoroughly enjoyed making it. I took my time with the colouring in and had a ball with the background. I know it won't be to everyone's taste but please remember that this is a positive feeling blog and negativity has no place here! Sorry - just have to say that!

So here's my inky card -

The background starts with a technique I picked up from Tim Holtz a few years ago. I scrunched up a piece of Milk Card. I opened it out and then passed the Terra Cotta Adirondack Dye Ink Pad over the peaks in the card. I misted it with water and left it for a few seconds for the ink to move a bit. I then ironed it with my Encaustic Iron to stop the ink from moving further and to flatten the card.

With the stamp in my hand, I randomly stamped the Justrite Vintage Alphabet Soup Background using Current Adirondack Dye Ink. I then stamped the border from the Justrite Elegant Fan Elements Stamp Set top and bottom, again using Currant Ink.

Finally, I splatted Festive Berries and Seedless Preserves Distress Stain in a few places and put aside to dry.

I stamped the floral fan from the Justrite Floral Fan Elements Stamp Set 5 times onto Milk Card using Jet Black Archival. In the centre of two of the fans I stamped the sentimentand in the centre of the other 3, I stamped a single flower (both from the Elegant Fan Elements Stamp Set).

I popped some Festive Berries Distress Stain onto my Craft Sheet. I picked some ink up with my Water Brush and coloured in the flowers. I added some Seedless Preserves Distress Stain to the edges of the petals where the artist has drawn some shading lines. I swiped some Clover Adirondack Dye Ink onto my Craft Sheet and used it to colour the leaves. I used Terra Cotta Adirondack Dye Ink to colour the edges of the fan and the central accents.

I cut the fan images out using the Justrite Vintage Fan Dies. I added a Brad to the centre and secured them to my background.

I cut the Couture Creations Holly Branch out of Black Card twice. I made a flower out of Burgundy/Ivory Striped Grosgrain.

I assembled the card as shown adding some 8mm Black Pearls and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

If you like the look of Distress Stains, there's a cool video by Tim Holtz showing some other techniques with them here.

The White Card from the last Freebie Friday hasn't been claimed. Please check Monday's post to see if you've won.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi friend

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

For the background, I embossed a piece of Foundations Floral Dream Paper using the Spellbinders Elegance M-Bossabilities Folder. I ran it through the Platinum Machine a second time to extend the design.

I cut the largest die in the Spellbinders Roundabout Cut, Fold & Tuck Die Set out of the same paper, but this time I used the other side. I cut the smallest die in the Spellbinders Grand Stately Circles Die Set with the same Roundabout Die in the centre of it, out of Milk Card. I cut the next sized die in the Stately Circles Set, again out of Milk Card. At the emboss stage I added the Argyle Mask. I stacked the 2 circles dies on top of each other using 3D Foam and added the folded and tucked Roundabout die cut, offsetting it against the aperture.

I stamped the sentiment from the Creative Expressions Tatty's Text Stamp Set using Coffee Archival and cut it out using Spellbinders Victorian Tags.

I assembled the card as shown adding some Cream Pearl Corners and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

I have added photos of samples from the Takeover Weekend to my Julia Watts Crafts Facebook Page and to the Gallery page of this blog (access via the menu at the top of the blog), if you're interested. I will blog all the cards at some point here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love

Hi Bloggers.

What a busy, fun weekend! Hope you enjoyed it too. I can tell you, I was pretty tired by the time I got home last night! A day of unpacking and catching up on stuff today.

Here's today's card -

This card is made from Coconut White Card - change the colour ink pad to suit.

I dusted a piece of card with my Anti Static Bag and stamped the Justrite Stitched Frame Background using Clear Perfect Medium. I embossed with CS Clear Embossing Powder. I then applied Mountain Rose Adirondack Dye Ink using a Smoothie. I rubbed a piece of Kitchen Roll over it to removed the excess ink from the embossed design (the ink won't dry there).

I made a rosette - this time with the Couture Creations Christmas Seedling Die cut twice. I stamped the sentiment from the Justrite Friends Antique Labels One Stamp Set using Mountain Rose Ink applied with a Smoothie. I cut it out using Justrite Antique Labels One Dies and inked through the die with Mountain Rose.

I inked a piece of White Crochet Ribbon with Mountain Rose ink applied with my Smoothie. I cut it in half lengthways and made 2 flowers. I cut the Couture Creations Holly Branch Die 4 times, trimming a little off them at the berries end.

I assembled the card as shown piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.

The winners of the cards from Freebie Friday on 15th January are -

White Card ..............................Ginny

Black Card ...............................Rosie

Please email me at juliawattscrafts@gmail.com with your addresses and I'll pop your cards in the post - as long as they came back from the studio!!
