Here's today's card - I had a play with mica powders on this one.
For the background, I stamped the Scented Border on the right hand side using Perfect Medium and embossed with my embossing powder/mica powder mix. I then ran it thought the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Happy Birthday Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the design and then inked around the edges with Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.
I stamped the Merano Glass perfume bottle mix using Perfect Medium and embossed with my powder. I coloured in some of the gems using a little Shaded Lilac Distress Ink and water. I then added a little Pearlescent Mica Powder, from the Cosmic Shimmer Metallics Mica Spray Set, to the ink and used it to colour some other areas. I cut it out using Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Rectangles and inked through the die with Shaded Lilac.
I stamped the sentiment that comes with the Merano Glass, again using Perfect Medium and embossed with my powder. I cut it out using Justrite Vintage Lables Four and inked through the die with Shaded Lilac.
I tied a bow using Purple/Ivory Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. I mixed a little Blue Lilac Mica Powder with some Cosmic True White Detail Embossing Powder (it doesn't need to be detail powder). I pressed a Dazzler Setting into Perfect Medium, added my new powder and heat set. I added a Clear Sparkler.
I assembled the card as shown adding some White Pearls to the corners and some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pealrescent PVA in White around the edges.
Do have a go at making your own embossing powders - it's great fun. Also try using it on different coloured card.
Thanks for stopping by.
Julia.

ReplyDeleteMorning Julia, I remember seeing you demo this card, it is stunning, and I was blown away with the mixed embossing powder and mica powders, and I have fallen in love with the happy birthday embossing folder. I love how you have changed the colour of the dazzler setting. Strangely, yesterday I was finishing a card for my hubby's birthday on 14th and I wanted to change the colour of a Tim Holtz metal tag to put on the front, and I was racking my brain to try and remember what you used, I couldn't remember and I used metallic distress stain, not as good a result, and now today you have 'reminded' me haha, so I will be remedying the tag later, thank you.
ReplyDeleteLots of love from Patricia xx

It is so lovely and the bow and dazzler setting looks super! I'll be giving this one a try. Thank you so much for all your inspiration and clear instructions.
Time to prepare dinner now! No rest for the wicked!

This is lovely! thanks for sharing - I'm just doing a wedding card using Shaded Lilac - it looked a little too blue to me....but when I put some lilac ribbon by it, i can see it's lilac!!! Going to use your Pearl dots around all the edges style on my card too - this is a very pretty card and i must try using my mica powers more as they looks so gorgeous 'stamped'. Maxine x
