A Single Rose

Hi  Bloggers.

Today I'm on the Toolshed Show on Create & Craft 12noon till 2pm with Lottie. I'll be demonstrating some of my favourite Spellbinders dies from the January release this year.

Here's a card that I shall probably demo today -

For the background I ran the Spellbinders Elegance M-Bossabilities Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the pattern and then edged with Shell Pink Adirondack Dye Ink using Cut n Dry Foam.

I cut a strip of Coconut White Card, laid the Elegance Border Mask over it and inked through with Shell Pink. I cut a border using the Persian Accents die set and inked through the die with Shell Pink.

I stamped the sentiment from the Creative Expressions Garden Sayings Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Floral Ovals and inked through the die with Shell Pink. I cut the largest of the Floral ovals out of white card and at the emboss stage I added the Small Polka Dots Mask. I inked through the die with Shell Pink. I cut the largest of the Romantic Rectangles out of white card and this time I added the Delicate Mask at the emboss stage. Again, I inked through the die with Shell Pink.

I made a flower using Spiral Blossom 3. I inked through the die with Shell Pink and all over the back of the card prior to folding. I cut a couple of leaves out of white card using the Bitty Blossoms die set and inked through the die again with Shell Pink (there's a lot of that!).

I tied a bow using 2 lengths of Rose Sheer Wrinkled Edge Ribbon. I added a Medium Square Dazzler to the centre and a couple of White Pearl Decorative Stick Pins.

I hadn't the right colour pink for a mat so I edged some white card with Shell Pink instead and added some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in White Pearl around the edges. I finished the card of with some Pearl Swirls.

This card can be made in any colour - just change the ink pad and the ribbon.

Hope you can join me later.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia.

  4. Hi Julia
A beautiful card but I personally think the bow tends to overshadow the delicate detail on the card and would prefer it with just the flowers for me less being more. Love it never the less. I will look forward as always to your show.

  6. Hi Julia,
Lovely card but like Heather I also think the bow overpowers the detail I would have added more flowers, but that's just me I'm not a fan of large bows.
Have my daughter and grandchildren coming for lunch so I probably won't be able to watch the shows but I'm sure they will go well for you Ju;ia.

I'm so glad its leonie you've got, lottie is ok but leonie is so funny and knows what she's talking about!! Hope you show the dark blue and white card on hear if you don't get to demo it as it looks stunning. Love lesley xx

  26. I'm also watching the Tool Shed as I type this. You have just completed the demo for this card and whilst I think both cards are beautifully stunning, I think, for me, the pink bow has the edge as it enhances the delicate shade of pink ink. The white bow tends to make it appear even paler than it is. It all comes down to personal choice and my choice would be to have both! lol!

As always fabulous designs, beautiful cards and a show full of inspiration and innovative ideas. I could sit and watch you and Ali Reeve all day, every day! xx

  27. Hi Julia,
I just saw this card on TV and how beautiful it looks! Not sure if I prefer the white bow or the pink , I guess I love both!
    Well done.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

  32. Hi Julia

Love your card, the colours are my favourite. I watched you on tool shed to learn lots as I have just bought a grand calibur, so thank you. I was hoping you would show an A4 embossability because mine does go in, but its really tough and the rasp mat has bowed! I did do it the same as you did on tv, will keep trying.
