Mica Bauble

Hi Bloggers.

Today's card is a demo card from Friday and it uses Mica Powder in various ways.

It's quite hard to see the background on this card but to create it I popped the Snowflakes Mask onto some cobalt card and misted it with some Pale Gold Mica Powder (from the Metallics Mica Pigment Spray Set) mixed with a little water in the mister bottle that comes in the set. I removed the mask and dried it with a heat tool (you can leave it to dry naturally but I'm impatient!).

I cut 2 sizes from the Spellbinders 2010 Heirloom Ornament die set. I dusted the smaller one with my anti-static bag and then stamped the bauble from the Creative Expressions Christmas Baubles Stamp Set using Perfect Medium. I dusted it with the copper mica powder from the metallics set. I removed the excess powder with a dry wet wipe (yes I know it sounds strange!). I then spritzed it with some water and dried it with my heat tool to fix the powder.

I repeated the process with the sentiment from the Creative Expressions Let It Snow Stamp Set and a die cut from the Spellbinders Ribbon Banners Set.

I mixed a little copper mica powder with some Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I pressed the Perfect Medium Ink Pad onto the edges of the larger bauble die cut and then sprinkled some of the copper mica embossing powder over it. I heat set it. I added some more ink and powder where I wasn't happy with the coverage and heat set again. I tied a bow with the Violet Bronze Sheer Iridescent Ribbon and added it to my bauble.

I pressed a couple of Creative Expressions Art Deco Metal Corners into the Perfect Medium Ink Pad. I sprinkled some of the copper mica embossing powder over them, shook off the excess and then heated them. This changed the colour of the corners to match my project.

I finished the card with some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Olympic Gold.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia.

  6. Morning Julia, A beautiful card, I loved it when you demo'd it on C&C, the background technique was gorgeous. I loved the 2 die-cut baubles with another bauble stamped on top, it gives the illusion of 3 baubles, just beautiful. The metal corners really complete the card, gorgeous. Lots of love from Patricia xx

  14. Morning Julia, i loved this card when you did it, great colour choice. Ive got into uses mica powders, i spray the stamped and mica dusted image with pastel fixative spray (i have it as paint in pastels)and found it sets it better than water. I also spray it after water colour painting an image with mica powders.
