Hi Bloggers.
Today's shows are on Create & Craft at 3pm (with Dawn) and 7pm (with Hayley). Hope you can join me and email in if poss as I would like to give away 2 cards in each hour.
Here's today's card. It's probably my favourite from this set.
For the background, I spritzed a piece of Coconut White Card with Cosmic Shimmer Angel Pearl Mister (just gorgeous for this kind of project!). I dried it with my heat tool and ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Exotic Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the pattern.
I stamped the image from the Creative Expressions Wedding Bliss Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Lapis Pearl Lustre Embossing Powder. I carefully cut it out with scissors. I cut the square motif out using the Spellbinders Asian Motifs die set. At the emboss stage I added the Couture Creations Walrus & Carpenter Embossing Folder.
I made 3 flowers using Spellbinders Blossom 5 - I'll show you how to make one in the 3pm show. I made 1 flower using the middle size die and 2 using the next smallest die. I added a Pearl Swirl instead of leaves.
I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in White around the edges.
I have been asked about my PVA dots and how I get them so even - well, I don't really. I usually start with them close together and they get further apart as I get to the next edge! Sometimes I squeeze in an extra one when I get close to an edge and wished I hadn't and sometimes I leave a big gap and wished I had added an extra one! But, if you guys think they look ok then there is hope for everyone. It really just takes practice. As for my layers of card to frame the card, well if, say, my card is 5" square, my first mat would be 1/4" bigger at 5 1/4". My next mat, where the dots sit, would be 1/2" bigger so would be 5 3/4" and my final mat would be 1/4" bigger at 6". That's just my way. Sue does her mats differently. Anyway, hope that's useful.
Hope you'll tune in later.
Thanks for stopping by.
Julia.

ReplyDeletegreat card love the white cards,so elegant.Laura O
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your shows today Julia (or rather yesterday). Love the stamps and the samples you made from with them.
ReplyDeleteWhite on white always looks so elegant. Unfortunately I opened my big mouth and when asked to make two wedding cards I asked what the colour scheme was. Wish I hadn't - cream and green!! Nearly lost my mojo over that, had to go away and read a book instead and then come back to it. Could have done with your ideas a few days earlier, but will remember for the future - age permitting, of course.
