Be sure to read to the end of this post. I have some newsy bits to share.
Here's today's card -
For the background, I ran a piece of Mauve Card through the Grand Calibur with the Checkerboard PinPoint Embossing Folder. I rubbed Pearl Moon Gilding Wax all over the embossed surface.
I pressed 4 Victorian Metal Corners into Perfect Medium, added Cosmic Shimmer True White Detail Powder and heat set. I added some Cosmic Shimmer Dries Clear Glue to the backs of the corners. I left the glue for a couple of minutes for it to become tacky and then added the corners to the background.
I wrapped a piece of White Crochet Ribbon around the centre of the background.
I stamped the Justrite Basket Weave Background using Perfect Medium. I brushed some Lapis Lavender Mica Powder from the Cosmic Shimmer Summer Shades Mica Spray Set. I wiped away the excess with a dry wet wipe. I cut it out using Sue's Granada Die from the Spanish Collection.
I stamped the typewriter from the Justrite Just Typed Clear Stamp Set onto Mauve Card using Perfect Medium and embossed with True White Detail Powder. I cut it out using scissors.
I stamped several sentiments from the Justrite Typewriter Sentiments Clear Stamp Set using Dusty Concord Distress Ink. I trimmed them and edged them with Dusty Concord.
I tied a bow using White Crochet Ribbon and added a Clear Sparkler.
I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Cosmic Pearl around the edges.
I raised £50.42 for Macmillan Cancer Support from the sale of packs of samples on ebay. Thank you you to those of you who supported this. I hope you are pleased with your purchases. I will auction some more packs next month.
I am pleased to reveal that I have set the date for my next workshop at Creative Expressions HQ in Kettering. The date is Tuesday 21st October. A morning workshop and an afternoon workshop. Both workshops feature some of Sue's new dies.
The first workshop is 10am till 1pm.
The second workshop is 2pm till 4pm.

Hi Julia,
ReplyDeleteI wasn't sure at all about the typewriter as I couldn't see myself using it, however you have made some lovely cards with it! I watched your Show from last week last night. What happened to the second show? I recorded who I thought was you - ended up deleting it! Not up to your standard at all!
Love the cards you have made using Sue's Christmas dies too. The bauble plus the bow is just lovely.
Thanks Julia and congratulations on the amount you raised for charity.
Love Myra
PS. I love the corners on today's card! Saw you do this on TV. Some great close up shots today. Thanks.

Love the cards Julia they are really beautiful .
ReplyDeleteApologies for the long post.
ReplyDelete1) Great news about the new workshop date - however I don't do christmas - so I will keep my fingers crossed that in the future there will be more that won't be christmas themed - or I might have to see if I can get you to come to my part of the world for the day to deliver a workshop to my craft class.
2) Great news about the samples - I was again a lucky winner - I was really pleased to win one of them, as I have a few of the stamps that were used on the samples. I think one of my craft club classes with have to be "Cards Inspired by Julia Watts samples" or as I said in (1) get you to come up this way.
3) Lovely card Julia - I must really think about investing in some of the crochet ribbon - though one of my new year resolutions was buy no more ribbon, which is going well (as is the one of making a card for a monthly card swap that I take part in from my boxes of cards to be made up later stash)
4) Excitement - both my Julia Amazon and Ebay orders have been despatched - wonder which will get here first?
DeleteHi Julia, love the cards love Jean Z xx
ReplyDeleteHi Julia. Boo hoo, IE seems to be playing up this evening and none of your pictures are loading for me, but i am sure your card is lovely, as always. Will check back tomorrow to see if its sorted itself out. Will also try the old trick of logging off and on again, but not tonight. Been out for the day so going to have an early night. SueL x
