Hi Bloggers.
Here's today's card -
The background, although it might not appear it, is the Bargello Technique with scraps from 3 papers from Phill Martin's Frosty Christmas Holly Paper Pad. To recap how to do this - I cut a few strips, each 1" wide. then then glued 2 strips of each pattern
to a piece of copy paper, alternating the designs. I then cut this down
into 1" strips so that each strips was made up of 1" squares of the
patterned paper. I then glued these strips onto another piece of copy
paper, stepping down each time to offset the patterns. I ran this
through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Swrling Holly Embossing Folder and rubbed Pearl Moon Gilding Wax over the surface.
I dusted a piece of Coconut White Card with an Anti Static Bag and placed it onto the tan mat of my Grand Calibur which was on top of the Pink Embossing Plate. I then inked up the large deboss die from Sue Wilson's Lavish Accented Design Noble Die Set with Clear Perfect Medium and popped it face down onto the dusted card. I added the Base Plate and ran it through the Grand Calibur. The ink transferred to the deboss pattern - by the way if you ink up using a Brayer instead of using the pad directly , your pattern will be more clearly defined than mine. I added Phill's CS Decadent Denim Embossing Powder and heat set. I cut the frame out using the plain dies either side if the deboss die.
I stamped the Shooting Stars Medallion Stamps to Die For onto Coconut White Card using Clear Perfect Medium and embossed with Decadent Denim Embossing Powder. I cut it out using the largest die in Sue's Deboss Snowflake Die Set.
I made a flower out of more scraps of paper using 3 sizes of dies from Sue's Classic Poinsettia Die Set and out of Coconut White using the corresponding dies from Sue's Classic Poinsettia - Open Petals Die Set and added a 5mm White Pearl to the centre. I cut a couple of sprays out of Coconut White Card using Sue's Star Spray Die Set.
I assembled the card as shown adding some 8mm White Pearls and piercing around the edges using my Tim Holtz Ruler, Precision Probe and Piercing Mat.
The boys are taking over Hochanda! Phill Martin continues with his One Day today with shows at 9am, 12noon, 4pm and 7pm. John Lockwood has a One Day Special with some more of Sue's Dies starting this evening at 8pm and continuing tomorrow. This looks gorgeous and i think it would look great in darker colours too, xxx
ReplyDeleteA beautiful card. A good way to use up the scraps for a background. Must try the technique of using an embossing ink pad on the Nobel die again, my first effort in one of your workshops was not impressive, but practice, they say, makes perfect. My stamping is certainly improving, you would be proud of me!!!!
