Julia Rosette Sneak Peek

Hi Bloggers.

As promised, I have a sneak peek from Wednesday's One Day Special on Hochanda -

I love to make rosettes and Sue Wilson has come up trumps with her new Julia Die. There are lots of peeks and troughs in the design which means that you can get a really full looking rosette with just 2 cuts of the die! Brilliant!

So, I cut the 2 largest dies from the Julia Die Set out of Milk Card twice. I scored them on all the peak to peak lines, turned them over and scored them trough to trough. I made a cut from a peak to the centre on one of them and from a trough to the centre on the other one. I then folded them both following the score lines into mountain and valley folds. I glued them together and then glued them to a base cut from Petrol Blue Card using a die from Sue's Double Pierced Circles.

I cut die 1 and 2 from the Julia Die Set out of Milk Card and die 3 out of Petrol Blue Card. I glued the 2 die cuts together and added them to the centre of my rosette using a couple of Foam Pads.

For my background, I decided on just a plain piece of Milk Card which I matted onto a piece of Petrol Blue Card using CS Glue. I matted onto another piece of Milk Card using CE Mounting Cushion.

I cut a pair of leaves out of Petrol Blue Card using the Sycamore Branch Die Set. I made a scrunched up flower using the Sunflower Bouquet Die Set - I cut 2 of each of the middle sized flowers in the set, misted them with water, scrunched them up, opened them out and stacked them up, I pierced the centre to secure them together, scrunched them up to the centre one at a time and then eased out a little of the petals. I added a little Faded Jeans Distress Oxide to the tips using a Smoothie.

I cut my sentiment out of Petrol Blue using the Mix & Match Friendship Die Set and added it to my card using CS Glue in a Woodware Fine Tip Glue Applicator.

I completed my card by adding an 8mm Cream Pearl to the left hand corners.

  11. Good Morning Julia. A wonderful and brilliant idea. I love this pinwheel. Thinking I might buy this die and have a go. I love making pinwheel but have only done them on straight strips of card. Never tried on circular. .... I just have to try this out. Well done Julia. Kind regards Ann Toppcards Leeds
