Scrapbook Saturday and a Giveaway

Hi Bloggers.

It's not always necessary to buy papers for your scrapbook pages. Just like with your card making, you can make your own papers. For this layout, an 8 x 8 by the way, I have used the paper that comes inside the sleeves of my scrapbook album and changed it.

This is my cat, Charlie. He's a substantial cat (ie a bit on the large side!) and the complete opposite to Smokey. He's quite a pest at times and seems to take great pleasure in luring me to his bowl to find that he doesn't need any more food as his bowl is already full!

For my custom made paper, a Tim Holtz technique. I scrunched up the paper from my album sleeve and then opened it up again. Then I rubbed Black Soot Distress Ink over the peaks of the paper. I spritzed this with water, allowed a couple of minutes for the water to move the Distress Ink a little and then pressed flat with my Encaustic Iron.

I did some splats with Peeled Paint and Old Paper Distress Stains. With the stamp in my hand, I randomly stamped the Creatie Expressions Kitten Treats Background using Black Soot Distress Ink. I inked around the edges with Old Paper Distress Ink.

I cut the border  and a couple of corners out of Black Card using Sue's Scandinavian Border, Corner & Tag Die Set.

I matted the photo of Charlie onto Black Card then Green Bazill Card and added a 5mm Black Pearl to 3 corners of the photo.

The journalling panel is cut from Sue's Auvergne Die Set and I inked through the die with Old Paper Distress Ink. I cut a mat out of Black Card using Sue's Provence  Die Set.

I cut Charlie's name out of Green Bazill Card using Spellbinders Font One Upper and Lower Case Die Sets.

I made the card up that I didn't get to demo in Tuesday's afternoon show so, I'm offering it up as a giveaway. Just leave a lovely comment on today's post and I'll draw a winner on Wednesday lunchtime.

Thanks for stopping by.

With Sympathy

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

For the background, I ran a piece of Black Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Art Deco Fanfare Embossing Folder.

I popped some Cosmic Shimmer Flake & Glitter Glue onto my Craft Sheet. I picked some up onto a piece of Cut n Dry Foam and used it to 'ink' up the Justrite Garden Trellis Background. I put the stamped image aside while I cleaned my stamp using a Grime Boss. There 's no rush to add anything to the stamped image as the glue remains tacky until covered. I added Summer Meadow Cosmic Shimmer Gilding Flakes. I removed the excess using a piece of Rubit Scrubit and matted onto Vintage Gold Card.

I stamped the sentiment from the Justrite Extra Grand Sentiments Clear Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Gold Detail Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Justrite Vintage Labels Four Die Set.

I tied a bow using 2 lengths of Black Silky Crush Ribbon and added a Black Vintage Button.

I assembled the card as shown adding some Black Pearls to the corners and I pierced around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by.

Flowers of True Friendship

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

For the background, I ran a piece of Milk Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder (my fave at the moment in case you haven't guessed!) and inked around the edges with Aged Mahogany Distress Ink.

I stamped the leaves from the Justrite A Flower For Your Thoughts Clear Stamp Set using Olive Archival. I stamped the flower from the same stamp set (the leaves and the flower are separate stamps) using Vermillion Archival. I stamped the sentiment (again from the same set) using Jet Black Archival. I cut them out using Spellbinders Labels 29 and inked through the die with Aged Mahogany.

I cut a couple of leaves out of Rich Red Card using Sue's Petite Vinery Die Set and made a flower out of Burgundy/Ivory Striped Grosgrain.

I assembled the card as shown adding some Cream Pearls, a strip of Burgundy/Ivory Striped Grosgrain and I pierced the around the edges.

I thought I'd show you a pic of the stamp set I used as it's really quite pretty and quite versatile with flowers and foliage separate so that you can stamp with multiple ink pads.

The stamp at the top left is 2 stamps with the foliage and leaves/flourish separate. It's the one I used on Monday's card here.

I've loaded photos of all the new samples I made for Tuesday's shows onto Facebook here.

Thanks for stopping by.

Special Gifts

Hi Bloggers.

Thanks for all your emails to the studio yesterday and for the comments here on the blog. Much appreciated as always.

Here's today's card -

For the background, I ran a piece of Coconut White Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.

I stamped the Justrite Iron Swirls Background using Plum Archival. I simply cut it out using my trimmer and mounted it onto Rich Plum Card.

I cut out the largest die from the Spellbinders Labels 29 die set and inked through the die with Seedless Preserves. I stamped the large double corner stamp from the Justrite Special Gifts Labels 29 Clear Stamp Set on each side of the die cut as shown. As it's a clear stamp set it's pretty easy to see where to stamp.

I stamped the oval design from the same stamp set, again using Plum Archival. I cut it out using Spellbinders Classic Ovals Large.

I cut the Justrite Heirloom Flourish Two Die out of Rich Plum Card twice and slotted the die cuts either side of the Labels 29 die cut.

I cut a couple of leaves out of Rich Plum Card using Sue's Petite Vinery Die Set and made a flower out of White Crochet Ribbon.

I assembled the card as shown adding a White Pearl to each corner and I pierced around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by.

Shows on Create & Craft Today

Hi Bloggers.

I have shows on Create & Craft today at 8am and 2pm. Hope you can join me. There are different Justrite Stamps and Dies on each show that have special prices.

Here's today's card -

For this card, I made myself a custom made ink pad. I cut a piece of Cur n Dry Felt roughly the size of the flower stamp I wanted to use from the Justrite Floral Thank You Stamp Set. I added some drops of Seedless Preserves, Peeled Paint and Tumbled Glass Distress Re-inkers onto the felt side of the pad. This is what my ink pad looks like -

I used this to stamp the image and the sentiment both from the Justrite Floral Thank You Stamp Set. I really like the colour variation from this. I cut them out using Spellbinders Labels 29 and Justrite Vintage Sentiment Tag Dies respectively and inked through the dies with Seedless Preserves Distress Ink.

For the background, with the stamp in my hand I randomly stamped the Justrite Dotted Fronds Background onto a piece of Milk Card using my Custom Made Ink Pad. Then I repeated the process using the Justrite Iron Swirls Background using Seedless Preserves Distress Ink. I then ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Seedless Preserves.

I used my Custom Made Ink Pad to colour a piece of Milk Card and cut some leaves using Sue's Petite Vinery Die Set. I cut 2 of the smallest die and 4 of the next size up of the Justrite Vintage Labels Three Dies out of Milk Card and used them to make a scrunched up flower. I inked the edges with Seedless Preserves.

I assembled the card as shown adding some Cream Pearls to the corners and I pierced around the edges with a Pierceing Ruler and Piercing Tool.

The ink pad will last quite a while when kept in a plastic bag.

Hope you can join me today.

Thanks for stopping by.

Another Sneak Peek

Hi Bloggers.

I have another sneak peek for you today. This card features a new Justrite Clear Stamp Set (so pretty!) and a new Justrite Background Stamp (fab to use with Gilding Flakes).

For the background, I ran a piece of Milk Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

I stamped the new Justrite Garden Trellis Background using Black Perfect Medium and brushed Enchanted Blue Mica Powder from the Cosmic Shimmer Delicate Lace Mica Spray Set over the image. I wiped away the excess with a dry wet wipe and matted the background onto Cobalt Card.

The image is actually 2 stamps from the new Justrite Flower For Your Thoughts Clear Stamp Set. I stamped the flourish/leaves first using Fern Green Archival. I then stamped the flowers using Cobalt Archival. I cut out using Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles Two and inked through the die with Faded Jeans Distress Ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Cobalt Archival. I cut it out using Spellbinders Standard Circles Large and inked through the die with Faded Jeans.

I assembled the card as shown adding some Cream Pearls to the corners and I pierced around the edges.

Tracey tells me that the workshops on 3rd February at Creative Expressions HQ are almost full and the ones on 24th are filling up. Places are limited to just 12 per session. Details on the Workshops Page link at the top of this blog. Workshops at Yardley Gobion are limited to 20 each day.

I've added another page in the top menu of this blog with the Videos that I've made with Sue Wilson and a couple I made at home some time ago. Just click on the link in the menu to go and have a look.

Sneak Peak

Hi Bloggers.

On Tuesday, I have shows on Create & Craft with some Justrite Stamps at great prices. Here's a sneak peek from the afternoon show -

For the background, I ran a piece of Coconut White Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Art Deco Fanfare Embossing Folder.

For the panels. I stamped the Justrite Stitched Circles Background twice using Perfect Medium and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Silver Shine Detail Embossing Powder. I edged the panels with a little Silver Cosmic Shimmer Shimmer Paint using Cut n Dry Foam and then matted them onto more Coconut White Card.

I stamped the floral frame and the sentiment from the Justrite True Friends Vintage Labels Four Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Silver Detail Powder. I cut them out using Vintage Labels Four Dies.

I made a flower using White Crochet Ribbon and cut a couple of leaves using Sue's Petite Vinery Die Set.

I assembled the card as shown adding a White Pearl to each corner and I pierced around the edges using my piercing ruler.

Scrapbook Saturday

Hi Bloggers.

I have a 12 x 12 page for you today.

The Teal 12 x 12 Card is from Arctic Frog. The brown card is some I've had for years from who knows where. The papers are from the Couture Creations Sew Jo 12 x 12 Paper Pad.

The lacey die cut is cut using Sue's Umbria Die Set from the Italian Collection. I cut the frame and the journalling panel using Sue's Dainty Oval Frame.

Once again, I used Spellbinders Font One Upper and Lowercase Alphabet Die Sets for the title.

Nothing to it really. However, I find that it doesn't matter how simple the layout, I still look at the pages in my scrapbook albums far more often than the photos in my old albums.

Happy Birthday

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

For the background, I stamped the little ship's wheel stamp in the 4 corners of a piece of Milk Card using Jet Black Archival. I then ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Checkerboard PinPoint Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink. I wrapped a piece of Black/Ivory Striped Grosgrain around the centre.

I stamped the sentiment from the Justrite Anchors Away Clear Stamp Set using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Clear Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Justrite Vintage Labels Three Die Set and inked through the die with Black Soot.

I stamped the frame from the same stamp set, again using Jet Black Archival and embossed with Clear Powder. I cut it out using Justrite Nested Medallion Labels. I cut a Spellbinders Asian Motifs Die out of Black Card.

I tied a knot in a piece of the Grosgrain Ribbon.

I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Black Pearl PVA around the edges.

Just Because

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card  -

For the background, I ran a piece of Coconut White Card through the Grand Calibur with the Checkerboard PinPoint Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Dried Marigold Distress Ink.

I sprayed some Phill Martin Graceful Peach Ink Spray Mist onto a piece of Cut n Dry Foam to make myself an 'ink pad'. I then spayed a little more onto my Craft Sheet and mixed this with a little Graceful Peach Mica Powder. I added this to my 'ink pad' and used it to stamp one of the corners from the Justrite Ornate Corners Clear Stamp Set along a strip of Coconut White Card to form a border. I matted this onto a piece of Peach Card.

I stamped the sentiment and the frame from the Justrite Botanical Swirls Labels Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Graceful Peach Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Botanical Swirls & Accents Die Set. I removed the sentiment/frame and inked through the die with the mister/mica ink pad for the outer frame. I cut a Justrite Nested Cloud & Tag Die out of Coconut White Card. I ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Quilted Flower Embossing Folder. I rubbed Gracefu Peach Gilding Wax over. Once dry, I buffed it up using a dry wet wipe. I added some Graceful Peach Twinkles around the edges using Cut n Dry Foam.

I cut the large corner die from the the Spellbinders Botanical Swirls & Accents Die Set out of Peach Card. I popped some Warm White Cosmic Shimmer Matt Chalk Paint onto my Craft Sheet and mixed in a little Graceful Peach Mica Powder. I used this to colour a piece of White Crochet Ribbon using a piece of Cut n Dry Foam. Once dry, I made a flower with half of it cut lengthways.

I assembled the card as shown adding some White Pearls to the top right hand corner and some dots of Graceful Peach PVA around the edges.

I've taken a pic of the demo bits that are up for grabs from Monday's Craft Clinic. If you haven't already done so, leave a comment on Tuesday's blog post if you'd like to win a bag of homework!
