Happy Birthday

Hi Bloggers.

Thanks for your emails and comments here on the blog yesterday. Much appreciated as always.

Here's a demo card from yesterday -

One of my messy backgrounds on this one. I started with the Justrite Dotted Fronds Background and with the stamp in my hand I randomly stamped using Spun Sugar Distress Ink. I repeated the process with the Justrite Sweet Lace Background and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink. Then I repeated the process with the Wrought Iron Corner Stamp (again in my hand) with Tattered Rose Distress Ink. I made sure the ink was dry and then ran it through the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Happy Birthday Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the design and inked around the edges with Spun Sugar using Cut n Dry Foam.

I stamped the Basketweave Purse using Perfect Medium and embossed with Cosmic Shimmer Silver Shine Detail Embossing Powder. I cut it out using Spellbinders Pearl Effects and inked through the die with Spun Sugar. I coloured in with a mix of Rose Hue Mica Powder from the Cosmic Shimmer Circus Brights Mica Spray Set and Pearlescent Mica Powder from the Cosmic Shimmer Metallics Mica Spray Set, plus Silver Mica Powder from the Metallics set along the top of the purse.

I stamped the sentiment that somes with the Basketweave Purse, again using Perfect Medium and embossed with Silver Shine Detail Powder.

I made some flowers out of felt from the Vintage Felt Pack and Spellbinders Spiral Blossom Three (die on Sue's shows tomorrow) and cut some leaves out of silver card using Heartfelt Creations Classic Leaf Die Set.

I assembled the card as shown adding an 8mm White Pearl to 3 of the corners and some dots of the new Pastel Pink Cosmic Shimmer Pastel PVA around the edges.

Don't forget that Sue has 2 shows today on Create & Craft - 12noon (2 hours) and 5pm.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia.

  2. Morning Julia and Wattsonettes. BRILLIANT show's yesterday Julia with great tips and idea's as always, you always seem to cover the questions I have in my mind, and your explanation of products and how to use them is second to none, thanks Julia.
Sounds like you will NEVER live down shouting at Martyn (although must be before my CC days maybe) ? As I didn't see that show.
I've had the corner butterfly for a few months now and its beautiful no matter how you use it, I love it, and although at 1st I thought the background was too dark, I appologise for that, on the show it looked beautiful, so accept my appologies Julia ?
Im adding a wrinkle and a year next week and have asked for craft vouchers, so although I wont be spoilt, I may just have enough for a large background stamp, or maybe a die set, O.M. Word, too much choice, what would I get the most use out of I wonder ?!
Anyway, my last craft fair of 2013 today, so If Im lucky I may even sell a few cards and gift bags and may be able to add a few pennies to my vouchers : )
Sending Sunday smiles and.'woop woop's for a great day on CC.
    Love n hugs.
    Lancashire Steph xx

  3. Hi Julia, beautiful card . Loved your demo's , you always explain everything so clearly. Would like it much better if some of the presenters on c&c didn't talk sooooooo much to enable us crafters to get more time watching you demo different techniques etc. Moan over now , can't wait for my goodies to arrive so I can play. 7. Morning Julia, I was back from shopping later than I thought yesterday, you were already 45 mins into your first show, I was having 'kittens' because I hadn't pressed 'record', and most of all you were doing your alcohol ink and acetate demo !!! I was over the moon that you were showing that technique as I loved yesterday's Blog post card. A stroke of genius on my part (haha) I decided to try using the 'fast back' button on my Virgin box and it worked !!! so I fast-backed right to the beginning and was able to watch it all !!!! Your demo's were fabulous and I was absolutely fascinated with the acetate and alcohol inks and how they reacted, fabulous shows.
Your card today, as always, is superb. We are being 'treated' this weekend, yourself yesterday and Sue and Kim today, what could be better. I'm going to press 'record' now, as I will be late getting home from Church and will miss the beginning. Have a lovely day.
Lots of love from Patricia xx

  16. Hi Julia and all the Wattsonette's, I loved the the demo's and stamps and the freely given tuition. I learn so much about stamping that the fear of it has is lessening and have a go, and although I have thrown away papers in the past I am going to carry it through to the end.
    Thanks so much X Ros
