Whoever Loves a Garden

Hi Bloggers.

Here's today's card -

For the background, I stamped the dandelion from the Creative Expressions Natures Wonders Stamp Set using Rusty Hinge Distress Ink. They weren't stamped randomly but I made sure each row was offset slightly. I made sure the ink was dry, dusted the area with my anti-static bag and then stamped a butterfly from the same stamp set a few times using Perfect Medium. I added Cosmic Shimmer Ancient Copper Metallic Embossing Powder from the Metallics & Darks Set. I ran the background through the Grand Calibur with the Couture Creations Alora Embossing Folder. I ran it through a second time to extend the pattern (the ribbon hides the join on this one) and inked around the edges with Rusty Hinge using Cut n Dry Foam. I wrapped some Champagne Wrinkled Edge Ribbon and some London Tan American Seam Binding around where the join of the embossing folder pattern was.

I stamped the main image from the Creative Expressions Butterfly Kiss Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with the Cosmic Shimmer Ancient Copper Metallic Embossing Powder. I stamped it 3 times in total. One of them I left intact and cut out using Spellbinders Square Swatches and inked through the die with Rusty Hinge. On another I cut out the centre panel with scissors and inked around the edges with Rusty Hinge. In the last one, I just cut out the butterflies from the central panel and coloured them with Rusty Hinge.

I stamped the sentiment from the Natures Wonders Stamp Set, again using Perfect Medium and embossed with Ancient Copper. I cut it out using Spellbinders Wavy Rectangles and inked through the die with Rusty Hinge. I tied a bow with 2 lengths of the Champagne Ribbon and added a Light Brown Dazzler.

I assembled the card as shown adding some dots of Cosmic Shimmer Pearlescent PVA in Dark Bronze around the edges.

Thanks for stopping by.

Julia.

  1. I really will have to try some backgrounds the way you do this one, it's so effective I could probably stop buying patterned papers! Spent a fortune last night on the CHA shows, so I'm dying for everything to arrive now.

  2. Totally adore the cosmic shimmer embossing powders, you have certainly been showing them in all their glory!! I've bought a pack of metalics and darks so can't wait for them to arrive so I can try them for myself.

  7. Hi Julia. These are such lovely stamps. Sitting on my hands at the moment and not buying any craft goodies this month. There is so much stuff I need to buy but I'm going to be strong and resist. Well, thats the plan up to now!

    Hope you're cold is better.

  14. Hi Julia,

Missed a couple of days but did see your show on Friday and like everyone else was so pleased when you told Martyn to shut up and we were then able to enjoy your demonstration. Today's card is so full of techniques but so beautiful. Rusty Hinge is a favourite of mine. Regards, Jackie D

  26. Hi again Julia
I wanted to ask if you can tell me if you heat emboss from the top or underneath the card as I've seen people do both and I'm not sure what you are meant to do and when?
    I do love this card

    1. I do it from the top as I tend to get too close and burn it if I do it from underneath. It's sometimes smoother if you do it from below.
